OPEN CALL FOR ENTRIES IN CIIF MARKET 2022

The 18th edition of the Canary Islands International Film Market will be held from November 22 to 27 at the Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey Hotel in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
National and international projects of fiction or documentary feature films, TV movies and series and miniseries for television (fiction or docuseries) in the development phase and a financing plan with at least 20% already secured.
Up to a maximum of 12 projects will be selected that will participate in the National and International Section and up to a maximum of 5 Canarian projects that will be presented in the Focus Canarias Section.
Participants will have the possibility of having a personalized schedule of appointments and pitching sessions with professionals from the film and audiovisual industry and guest receivers to co-produce their projects. Likewise, you will be able to access all the market and networking activities of CIIF Market 2022 and will be eligible for important prizes for your international drive.

Canary Islands International Film Market opens the registration period to participate in its 18th edition, which will take place from November 22 to 26, 2022 again in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
One of the most awaited events of the Canary Islands film and audiovisual scene returns in person, after celebrating in 2021 a hybrid edition imposed by the circumstances of the pandemic and not being able to be held in 2020.
CIIF Market is configured as a strategic meeting point of the Canary audiovisual sector, both nationally and internationally, to attract producers, find new projects and offer the islands for their shootings and tax benefits.
The objective of CIIF Market is to create synergies between creatives (authors, screenwriters, filmmakers), production companies, television channels, distributors, sales agents, and other industry professionals to promote film and audiovisual creation and encourage the co-production of projects aimed for the European and international markets.


PITCHING SESSIONS, CONFERENCES, MEETINGS AND LOCATIONS TOURS

CIIF Market returns with the celebration of pitching sessions of the selected projects that will be presented and evaluated by international producers, analysts and national experts.
Participants will also have the opportunity to have a personalized agenda of one-on-one meetings and activities with a series of renown professionals and potential investors to co-produce their projects, as well as attend different conferences and colloquiums and, new activities that will be announced soon. In addition, the selected projects will be eligible for a series of awards for their promotion abroad.
Finally, location tours are planned to show the islands to new producers interested in filming in the Canary Islands.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN CIIF MARKET 2022

European and international unpublished projects of fiction or documentary feature films, tv movies and fiction or documentary series/miniseries in a development phase can be submitted for funding, being necessary that the project has secured 20% of the total budget. Transmedia, crossmedia and multiplatform projects will be admitted, as long as they have as one of their main criteria the cinematographic film.
CIIF MARKET will select a maximum of 12 projects to participate in its National and International Section and a maximum of 5 Canary projects for its Canary Islands Focus Section. It will be valued the fact that it is the first time that the project is presented in a forum, that the production company has made at least one international co-production, the innovation in formats and the approach of new distribution and financing formulas, as well as, previous works completed by the director and/or producer.
The final selection will seek a balance between commercial projects and others with greater creative risk. The projects must be recent and unpublished and not have exhausted all possible means of financing.

NEW COLLABORATION AGREEMENTS

CIIF Market maintains the usual collaboration agreements with Macaronesia Films, Filmarket Hub, Music Library & SFX, renews with MAFIZ (Malaga Festival Industry Zone), PNR (Platform for New Filmmakers) and this year welcomes CIMA IMPULSA as a collaborator, a program of CIMA (Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media), which promotes the development of projects written by first-time or experiencedwomen screenwriters, to facilitate their access to the audiovisual industry.

On the other hand, Canary Islands International Film Market has also renewed the agreement with CLAC (Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster), through which the last winning project of the CIIF Market Award of the Canary Islands Film Accelerator is automatically selected in the market. Thus, CIIF Market 2022 already has a participating project, “Semillas”, produced by MGC Marketing (Spain) and Nino Visual (Colombia) by Eliana Niño.

CIIF MARKET AWARDS FOR THE INTERNATIONAL PROMOTION OF FILM AND AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION

CIIF Market 2022 will give six awards to all participating projects to promote the development and internationalization of film and audiovisual productions:

CIIF Market Award to the project with the greatest international outreach, with a cash prize to attend an international market of their choice.
Canary Islands Film Award to the best Canary Islands project, which will reward the winner with a travel bag to attend an international film market.
Filmarket Hub Award, consisting of free registration for one year on its platform, which will facilitate access to the most important companies in the audiovisual sector and financing funds in search for projects.
Macaronesia Films Award to a project with international potential, which will receive financial and legal advisory services (project finance) regarding tax incentives in the Canary Islands.
Music Library & SFX Award, the winning project will receive a flat rate limited to one free production, which will allow the synchronization of production music from the Music Library & SFX catalogs in the content of the project.

MAFIZ Award (Malaga Festival Industry Zone), one project will be awarded to attend MAFIZ 2023, with exclusive access to all activities, conferences, forums and masterclasses of the industry area of the Malaga Festival.

CIIF MARKET

CIIF MARKET was born 19 years ago with the objective of becoming a meeting point for European producers, distributors and investors, with the aim of promoting the international co-production of feature films, documentaries and television series for the global market.

During the last editions of the market, around 300 professionals, 160 companies and more than 100 projects from 15 countries have participated. Around thirty feature films that began their journey in CIIF Market have been produced, with global investment figures exceeding 70 million euros thus guaranteeing its success.
