National and international companies will participate in the XV edition of the Canary Islands International Films Market (CIIF Market)<\/strong> , which will be held from March 7 to 10 at the Iberostar Gran Hotel Mencey<\/strong> in Santa Cruz, with the aim of promoting the development of the film industry on the island. The details of this initiative were announced at the Cabildo de Tenerife by the insular director of Culture and Education, Jos\u00e9 Luis Rivero; the general director of Cultural Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands, Aurora Moreno; the councilor for Economic Promotion of Santa Cruz, Alfonso Cabello and the director of the CIIF Market<\/strong> , Guillermo R\u00edos.<\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Luis Rivero highlighted the history of the R\u00edos family in this initiative. “which has managed to bring together the different tools necessary for the development of an audiovisual market in the Canary Islands and promote local talent” and also highlighted that this initiative makes known the different financing possibilities that canary creative companies can have. Rivero added that “it is not only a pleasure to be next to this market, but it is almost a duty because it connects with the public action that arouses the rest of the agents of these industries.”<\/p>\n

The market director recalled that the success of the previous editions of the CIIF Market<\/strong> is endorsed by the participation of 160 companies, 130 projects and 16 countries.<\/p>\n

Awards aimed at promoting film production<\/strong><\/h3>\n

On this occasion, the organization proposes a series of awards that aim to promote the development of film production. These are divided into three categories: CIIF Market ticket to Cannes<\/strong> , which will be awarded to the project with the greatest international projection and whose winners will be able to enjoy a travel bag of 1,200 euros to encourage participation in this edition of March\u00e9 du Films (Cannes) . The arrival of the first national and international participants is scheduled for Wednesday, March 7, coinciding with the end of the Film Marketing workshop for independent productions in which Canary Islands International Films Market<\/strong> collaborates. This workshop is a parallel activity to the CIIF Market<\/strong> and will be held between March 5 and 7 at the Occidental Santa Cruz Contempor\u00e1neo Hotel. This activity is open to the public that registers for it and is organized by the Audiovisual Cluster of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo de Tenerife through the Tenerife Film Commission.<\/p>\n
