  • The 18th edition of the Canary Islands International Film Market will be held from November 22 to 27 at the Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey Hotel in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
  • National and international projects of fiction or documentary feature films, TV movies and series and miniseries for television (fiction or docuseries) in the development phase and financing plan with at least 20% already secured may be registered.
  • Up to a maximum of 12 projects will be selected to participate in the National and International Section and up to a maximum of 5 Canarian projects that will be presented in the Focus Canary Section.

Canary Islands International Film Market opens the registration period to participate in its 18th edition , which will take place from November 22 to 27, 2022 again in Santa Cruz de Tenerife .

One of the most anticipated events on the Canary Islands film and audiovisual scene returns in person, after celebrating a hybrid edition in 2021 imposed by the circumstances of the pandemic and not being able to take place in 2020.

CIIF Market is configured as a strategic appointment for the Canary Islands audiovisual sector, both nationally and internationally, to attract producers, find new projects and offer the islands for filming and tax benefits.

The objective of CIIF Market is to create synergies between creatives (authors, scriptwriters, filmmakers), producers, television channels, distributors, sales agents, and other professionals in the industry to promote cinematographic and audiovisual creation and encourage the co-production of projects aimed at to the European and international market.

PITCHING SESSIONS, CONFERENCES, MEETINGS AND LOCATIONS TOURS

CIIF Market returns with the celebration of pitching sessions of the selected projects that will be presented and evaluated by producers, receivers, analysts and international national experts.

Participants will also have the opportunity to have a personalized agenda of one-on-one meetings and activities with invited professionals and potential investors to co-produce their projects , in addition to attending different conferences and colloquiums, and new activities will be announced soon. In addition, the selected projects will be eligible for various awards to promote them abroad.

Finally, it is planned to carry out location tours to show the islands to new producers who are interested in filming in the Canary Islands.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN CIIF MARKET 2022
Unpublished European and international projects of fiction or documentary feature films, TV movies and fiction or documentary series/miniseries in the development phase may be submitted for the search for financing, it being necessary for the project to have secured 20% of the total budget.
Transmedia, crossmedia and multiplatform projects will be admitted, as long as they have the cinematographic film as one of their main bases .
CIIF MARKET will select up to a maximum of 12 projects that will participate in its National and International Section and up to a maximum of 5 Canarian projects that will be presented in the Focus Canary Islands Section . The fact that it is the first time that the project is presented in a forum, that the production company has carried out at least one international co-production, innovation in formats and the approach of new distribution and financing formulas, as well as previous completed works will be valued. of the director and/or producer.
In the final selection, an attempt will be made to find a balance between commercial projects and others with a greater creative risk. The projects must be recent and unpublished and must not have exhausted all possible financing channels.

NEW COLLABORATION AGREEMENTS
CIIF Market maintains the usual collaboration agreements for another year with Macaronesia Films, Filmmarket Hub, Music Library & SFX, is renewed with MAFIZ (Málaga Festival Industry Zone), PNR (Platform for New Directors) and joins this year as a collaborator TOP DRIVES, program of CIMA (Association of women filmmakers and audiovisual media), which promotes the development of projects written by women screenwriters, new or experienced, to facilitate their access to the audiovisual industry.
On the other hand, the Canary Islands International Film Market has also renewed the agreement with CLAC (Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster), through which the latest project that has won the CIIF Market Award from the Canary Islands Film Accelerator is automatically selected on the market. . In this way, CIIF Market 2022 already has a participating project, “Semillas”, produced by MGC Marketing (Spain) and Nino Visual (Colombia) and will be directed by Eliana Niño.

CIIF MARKET AWARDS FOR THE INTERNATIONAL PROMOTION OF FILM AND AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION
CIIF Market 2022 will award six prizes to all participating projects to promote the development and internationalization of film and audiovisual production:

CIIF Market Award for the project with the greatest international projection, with a cash prize to attend an international market of your choice.
Canary Islands Film Award to the best Canary Islands project, which will reward the winner with a travel bag to attend a sectorial market and international projection.
Filmarket Hub Award , consisting of free registration for one year to its platform, which will facilitate access to the most important companies in the audiovisual sector and financing funds in search of projects.
Macaronesia Films Award for the project with international potential, which will receive financial and legal advisory services (project finance) regarding tax incentives in the Canary Islands.
Music Library & SFX Award, the winning project will have a flat rate limited to one free production, which will allow the synchronization of production music from the Music Library & SFX catalogs into the content of the project.
MAFIZ Award (Málaga Festival Industry Zone) , a project will be awarded to attend MAFIZ 2023, with exclusive access to all the activities, conferences, forums and masterclasses of the industry area of the Malaga Festival.

CIIF MARKET’S TRAJECTORY
CIIF MARKET was born 19 years ago with the vocation of becoming a meeting point between European producers, distributors, and investors, with the aim of promoting the international co-production of fiction feature film projects, documentaries and television series destined for the global market.
In the sum of the last editions of the market, around 300 professionals, 160 companies and more than 100 projects from 15 countries have participated. Some thirty feature films produced, with overall investment figures in excess of 70 million euros, which began their journey at CIIF Market, attest to its success.

REGISTRATION CLOSING DATE
Producers and authors interested in participating in the 18th edition of the CANARY ISLANDS INTERNATIONAL FILM MARKET may submit their projects until October 16, 2022 , through the registration form available on the market’s website: www.ciifmarket.com .
It is necessary to accept the bases and attach a link or attached document through the registration form that makes it easier for the organization to download the audiovisual material to be able to view it, since material on physical support will not be received.
Registration is free of charge. The participation fee (see bases) will only be paid if the project is selected.
