The XVII edition of the Canary Islands International Film Market will be held on April 28, 29 and 30, 2021 in a hybrid face-to-face and online format with great news .
A maximum of 12 European and/or international film and/or audiovisual projects will be selected to be presented in pitching sessions before national and international experts and will be eligible for outstanding prizes for their promotion abroad. Up to 3 Spanish literary works with the possibility of adaptation to audiovisual screens will also participate.
CIIF Market has reached important collaboration agreements with MAFIZ (Málaga Festival Industry Zone ) and with CLAC (Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster), thus continuing its objective of becoming a reference platform for the development of projects and the search for new talent within the panorama cinematographic and audiovisual.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
Unpublished European and international projects of fiction or documentary feature films, TV movies and television series (fiction or documentary) in the development phase can be submitted for the search for financing, it being necessary for the project to have secured 20% of the total budget. Transmedia, crossmedia and multiplatform projects can be registered, as long as they have the cinematographic film as one of their main bases.
The call is open to the participation of Spanish literary works , fiction and non-fiction (novel, short story, play, essay, etc.), of all genres and subgenres (drama, comedy, etc.) and aimed at all type of public (children, youth, adults).
CIIF Market 2021 will select up to a maximum of 12 audiovisual projects and 3 literary works , taking into account quality criteria, international projection, talent of the producers, directors and viability of the financing plan. The fact that it is the first time that the project is presented in a forum, that the production company has carried out at least one international co-production, innovation in formats and the approach of new distribution and financing formulas, as well as previous completed works will be valued. of the director and/or producer.
In the case of Spanish literary compositions, the quality of the works, the talent of the authors and the feasibility of being adapted to film, television or digital platforms will also be taken into account.
REGISTRATION CLOSING DATE
Producers and authors interested in participating in the XVII edition of the CANARY ISLANDS INTERNATIONAL FILM MARKET may submit their projects or literary works until March 15, 2021 , through the registration form available on the market’s website: www.ciifmarket. com .
It is necessary to accept the bases and attach a link that makes it easier for the organization to download the audiovisual material in order to view it, since material on physical support will not be received. Files larger than 6MB must be sent or via wetransfer to: production@ciifmarket.com . Registration is free of charge. The participation fee (see bases) will only be paid if the project or literary work is selected.
Pitching sessions of the selected projects will be held in front of national producers and receivers in person (if the development of the pandemic allows it) and international experts via streaming , who will be able to connect live to follow the presentations and intervene in the subsequent question time .
In this way, producers, platforms, channels, distributors and festival programmers from other countries who will not be able to attend in person due to the situation, will do so actively online.
Participants will have the opportunity to have a personalized schedule of meetings and activities with invited professionals and potential investors to co-produce their projects or adapt their literary works, in addition to attending different conferences and symposia, whether it’s face-to-face or online if strictly necessary due to the evolution of Covid.19. Likewise, they will be able to opt for various prizes for their promotion abroad.
