THE CIIF MARKET 2019 REGISTRATION PERIOD CLOSES ON SEPTEMBER 15

Canary Islands International Film Market (CIIF Market) keeps the call for registration open until September 15 to participate in its XVI edition, which will take place from October 8 to 12, 2019 .

CIIF Market will bring together film producers, television channels, distributors, as well as other industry agents in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with the aim of becoming a meeting point and business space to promote the co-production of projects for the European market and international.

Likewise, with the aim of promoting audiovisual creation and promoting synergies between the film and publishing sectors, for the first time Canarian literary works with the possibility of being adapted to different screens will be able to participate.

CIIF Market is organized by Festeam Comunicación y Eventos SL, sponsored by the Government of the Canary Islands, through Canarias Cultura en Red and PROEXCA, Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Film Commission of Tourism of Tenerife; City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; Sociedad de Desarrollo de Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the collaboration of Atresmedia Cine, Macaronesia Films, Filmarket Hub, Clúster Audiovisual de Canarias, Music Library & SFX, Rahn Mercedes Benz and ZEC (Zona Especial Canaria).

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

Unpublished projects (national, European and international) of fiction or documentary feature films, TV movies and television series in the development phase may be submitted for the search for financing, it being necessary that the promoters of the project have secured 20% of the total budget. Transmedia, crossmedia and multiplatform projects can be registered, as long as they have the cinematographic film as one of their main bases.

The call is also open to the participation of literary works by authors born or residing in the Canary Islands, fiction and non-fiction (novel, short story, play, essay, etc.), of all genres and subgenres (drama, comedy, etc. .) and aimed at all types of public (children, youth, adults).

CIIF Market 2019 will select up to a total of 10 projects and 4 literary works, taking into account quality criteria, international projection, talent of the producers, directors and viability of the financing plan. The fact that it is the first time that the project is presented in a forum, that the production company has carried out at least one international co-production, innovation in formats and the approach of new distribution and financing formulas, as well as previous completed works will be valued. of the director and/or producer.

In the case of Canarian literary compositions, the quality of the works, the talent of the authors and the feasibility of being adapted to film, television or digital platforms will also be taken into account.

Participants will have the opportunity to have a personalized schedule of meetings with invited professionals and potential investors to co-produce their projects or adapt their literary works, as well as attend different presentations, workshops and colloquiums. Likewise, they will be able to opt for various prizes for their promotion abroad.

CIIF MARKET’S TRAJECTORY

More than 170 professionals, 110 companies and 70 projects from 12 countries have participated in the latest editions of the market. Some thirty feature films produced, with global investment figures that exceed 65 million euros and which began their journey at the CIIF Market, guarantee its success.

The XVI edition of the Canary Islands International Film Market will continue its trajectory as an important network of contacts and a useful tool for the participating projects, facilitating their access and knowledge about the different financing channels and the search for international co-producers for their film and audiovisual projects, reinforcing henetworking among companies in the audiovisual sector.

FIVE AWARDS FOR THE INTERNATIONAL PROMOTION OF FILM PRODUCTION

CIIF Market 2019 will present two new awards (Macaronesia Films Award and Music Library & SFX Award) , which join those awarded in previous editions, so there are already five awards that have been added to promote the development of film production and audiovisual:

CIIF Market Award for the project with the greatest international projection, with an amount of 1,200 euros that must be used to attend an international market of your choice.

Canarias Cultura en Red Award for the best Canarian project, which will reward the winners with a travel grant to attend a sectoral market with international projection.

Filmarket Hub Award, consisting of free registration to this prestigious platform, which will facilitate access to the most important companies in the audiovisual sector and financing funds in search of projects.

Macaronesia Films Award for the project with international potential, which will receive financial and legal advisory services (project finance) regarding tax incentives in the Canary Islands. It includes preparation of the corporate structure, preparation of contracts, application of incentives, assistance in the search for tax financing and assistance in the preparation of the financing plan.

Music Library & SFX Award, the winning project will have a flat rate limited to a free production, which will allow the synchronization of production music from the Music Library & SFX catalogs in the project content.
