REGISTRATION IS OPEN TO ATTEND THE FREE ACTIVITIES OF CIIF MARKET 2019!

The XVI edition of the Canary Islands International Film Market will begin in a few days. CIIF Market 2019 will meet of October 8 to 12 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife production companies, television channels, distributors, as well as other agents in the film and audiovisual industry, with the aim of contributing to their development and becoming a meeting point and business space to explore new financing channels and encourage the co-production of projects destined for the European market. We will also have the participation of writers and editors who will present their literary works to analyze the possibilities of adaptation to different screens.

Within the CIIF Market actions, two activities will be held open to the public, free of charge, under registration until full capacity is reached. They are aimed at professionals and students in the film and audiovisual sector, but anyone interested in these areas can also have access:

Ø Wednesday, October 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. / WORKSHOP “IMPACT OF ADAPTATIONS OF LITERARY WORKS ON NEW SERIES AND FEATURE FILMS PRODUCTIONS”.

Sydney Borjas, general director of the Scenic Rights agency , who has held prominent institutional positions related to Ibero-America, will participate, among them, as head of projects for the digitization of the audiovisual sector of the Ibermedia Program and has participated in more than 60 international co-productions throughout of his career.

He will be accompanied on the panel by Gervasio Iglesias, producer of Zeta Studios , with a long history of films such as “La isla mínima”, “7 vírgenes”, “Group 7” or more recently “The man with a thousand faces” and the television series for Movistar+ “La Peste”.

Both will address the adaptation of literature to film and television, and will value literary sagas as franchises in the industry, as well as the positioning of the platforms in the audiovisual market and the model they use to produce in relation to already literary works. existing or commissioned original projects, among other topics.

Gemma Pascual, director of development at Filmax, will tell us about her work in this important Spanish audiovisual company, organized into four large areas: production, international sales, distribution and exhibition, which makes it one of the main companies in the sector.

Likewise, it will analyze what scriptwriters need to present a project, where and how to do it, preparation of pitchings and other opportunities to make themselves known in the industry.
