THE CALL FOR THE REGISTRATION OF PROJECTS FOR CIIF MARKET 2024 IS OPEN
The 20th edition of CIIF Market will be held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife from 10 to 18 October 2024. Feature film projects (fiction or documentary) and series or mini-series (fiction or docu-series) that are in the development phase and have a financing plan with at least 20% already secured can be submitted.
A maximum of 12 projects will be selected to participate in the National and International sections and a maximum of 5 Canary Islands projects will be presented in the Canary Islands Focus section. Participants will have a personalized agenda of meetings and pitch sessions with the decision makers invited to evaluate their projects. They will also have access to all the market and networking activities and will be eligible to receive outstanding awards for the international promotion of their projects.
For its 20th anniversary, CIIF Market will expand its programme with pre-market activities related to the local industry, including a location tour to show the islands to new producers interested in shooting in the Canary Islands, among other initiatives to be announced soon.
Santa Cruz, July 9, 2024. Canary Islands International Film Market opens the registration period to participate in its 20th edition, which will take place from October 10 to 18, 2024 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with its headquarters once again being Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey Hotel.
CIIF Market is an activity organized by Festeam, Comunicación y Eventos, under the sponsorship of Cabildo de Tenerife, Area of Culture, Museums and Sports; Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Development Society; and Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Institute of Cultural Development, Canary Islands Film and PROEXCA; with the collaboration of Turismo de Tenerife, through the Tenerife Film Commission; Audiovisual Cluster of the Canary Islands and Macaronesia Filmamong other entities.
Canary Islands International Film Market has a long history of being a reference in the Canary film and audiovisual panorama and has become a strategic event to attract producers and investment, find new projects and partners and publicize the advantages that the Canary Islands offer for filming. , with important tax benefits.
CIIF Market was born 20 years ago with the aim of being a meeting point between European producers, distributors, and investors, with the aim of promoting the search for financing and stimulating the international co-production of film and audiovisual projects aimed at the global market.
Likewise, CIIF Market seeks to contribute to the revitalization of the industry by attracting national and international companies and promoting meetings with Canarian producers. CIIF Market will hold pitch sessions for the selected projects that will be presented and evaluated by national and international producers, receivers, analysts and experts, who will attend the market.
Participants will also have the opportunity to have a personalized agenda of one-to-one meetings with invited professionals and potential investors to co-produce their projects, as well as attend different conferences, colloquiums and other meetings where the most current trends in the industry will be analyzed. The selected projects will also be eligible for various prizes for their promotion abroad.

Requirements for participation in CIIF Market 2024
To participate in CIIF Market 2024, feature film projects (fiction or documentary) and series/miniseries (fiction or documentary) in the development phase can register to seek financing, it being necessary for the project to have 20% of the total budget secured.
CIIF Market will select up to a maximum of 12 projects to participate in its National and International Section and up to a maximum of 5 Canarian projects to be presented in the Focus Canarias Section.
The main selection criteria will be based on the quality of the projects, whether they are aimed at the international market, the talent and/or track record of the directors or producers and the viability of the financing plan.
The final selection will seek a balance between commercial projects and others with greater creative risk. The projects must be recent and unpublished and must not have exploited all possible financing avenues.
The fact that it is the first time that the project is presented in a market, that the production company has already carried out an international co-production, innovation in formats and the approach to new distribution and financing formulas will be valued.
Registration closing date
Production companies, authors, creators, screenwriters and/or directors interested in participating in the Canary Islands International Film Market may send their projects through the registration form available on the market website: www.ciifmarket.com.
Project registration is free. The participation fee will only be paid if the project is selected to participate in the 2024 edition of the event. Participation will be exclusively in person, participants will not be accepted online.
The registration form must be sent completed along with the acceptance of the bases before September 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. in the Canary Islands, Spain, the deadline for project registration.
Collaboration agreements and CIIF Market 2024 Awards
CIIF Market maintains collaboration agreements with CLAC (Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster), IsLABentura Canarias, Music Library & SFX, MAFIZ (Málaga Festival Industry Zone), PNR (Platform of New Directors) and CIMA (Association of women filmmakers and audiovisual media ). AECINE (State Film Association) joins as a collaborating entity in this edition.
CIIF Market 2024 will award the following prizes for which all participating projects will be eligible to promote the development and internationalization of film and audiovisual production:
CIIF Market Santa Cruz de Tenerife Award to the project with the greatest international projection, with a cash prize to attend an international market of their choice.
Cabildo de Tenerife Award to the project with the greatest European projection, with free accreditation to attend a European film and/or audiovisual market of their choice.
Music Library & SFX Award, the winning project will have a flat rate limited to one free production, which will allow the synchronization of production music from the Music Library & SFX catalogs into the content of the project.
The MAFIZ Prize will be awarded to the European project and the Latin American project with the greatest co-production potential to be able to participate in MAFIZ 2025, the industry area of the Malaga Festival.
Blurr Stories Award, the winners (European project and Latin American feature film project) will receive laboratory services including Conforming, Online and Delivery, which includes: 1 DCP, 1 ProRes HQ Master and 1 H.264 Master. The award will allow both projects to be completed with professional quality standards for distribution and exhibition.
The Térrea Award will be awarded to a European project and a Latin American project, consisting of the formulation of a sustainability plan to implement strategies to reduce emissions and improve the social impact of the projects.
